HitGoS Chapter 10 Teaser

I know, I know, I know. I usually post chapters on Thursdays, not teasers. Maybe you’re asking, “ooza, where is my update??!?” Well, let me tell you. Chapter 10 has been a bitch to write. The bitch of all bitches. Probably the most I’ve struggled with anything I’ve written. Ever. And it’s only getting more difficult from here. It’s written, technically, but I’m not quite happy with the way it is. That and now that I’m starting Chapter 11, I may end up intertwining them a bit. To top it all off, I have a head cold and don’t feel like writing/reading/thinking/doing anything.

What does that mean for you?

Bad news: No update today. :(

Good news: A really kick-ass teaser! And since this is the longest chapter yet (3300+ words, woo-hoo!), I’ll probably end up posting another one just to keep you appeased. :D

“Are you disappointed in him?” Bella asked.

Carlisle’s head snapped up. He smiled questioningly, surprised that Bella was perceptive—or cared—enough to ask. “He thinks I am, and . . . I was, but I have no right to be. I hold Edward to a higher standard than I do the others because of his track record, but sometimes we can’t help what’s in our nature. Sometimes we all do things for reasons unbeknownst to others.

“I don’t know your motives for trying to invoke my family to attack you. I imagine it’s either because you didn’t want to suffer any longer or you didn’t want to become one of us.” This time Bella looked away. Carlisle nailed her reasoning on the head. She didn’t want to die—not really—she just didn’t want to settle for the options that were before her.

“I could change you right now, Bella,” he proposed. “Your blood isn’t a temptation to me. I have successfully changed all six of my family members without a single lapse of control. It would be over before your brain even registered the pain. But I won’t do it without your permission.”

Omggggg, what is she going to do??!?
